Who are we
Sahara Senior Services is a registered non-profit organization formed by members of the multi cultural groups from all over the Ontario region. We presently serve thousands of members. Our organization has achieved Recognized Community Group status with the most cities of Ontario under the auspices of Community Services, Recreation Division.
Mission Statement
Our main mission is to improve and help seniors maintain their quality of life by providing welcoming environment that can reduce isolation, loneliness and promotes interaction between seniors of all cultures. Also, educate seniors about services available to them and their civic responsibilities to participate in all levels of the governing governments.
Regular Meetings
Head office meetings:
We meet every Thursday from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm at Meadowvale Community Center, Auditorium Room, 6655 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga ON. L5N 3L4. We also meet on Wednesdays from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm at Creditvale Mills, 1535 South Parade Court, Mississauga, Ontario for social gatherings. Every city in Ontario has their own schedule seniors meetings you can call Community Services, Recreation Division to check your next seniors meeting in your city.
We do light exercises with Yoga, and refreshments are always served. Our last segment is our cultural program where members introduce themselves; share their special experiences. They may sing songs, or tell jokes and poems etc.
We have state of the art overhead projector and sound system in our meeting auditorium rooms. We do workshops where we invite experts to come to our organization for presentations to provide us with the valuable information such as Senior Medical Supplies, Pharmacist on Prescriptions, Senior Tax benefits and concerns, Senior Frauds, Banking, Insurance, and Healthy Eating Habits. We arrange for out of town trips for our members to enjoy and have some fun. We arrange summer picnics and activities and also participate in other senior activities in the city
